How Psychology Is Influenced By What Is Going On In The World Politically, Socially And Scientifically?

The full question sounds like this:
Give two specific examples of how viewpoints in psychology are influenced by what is going on in the world politically, socially and scientifically.  What past influences may  still be shaping research and views in psychology today? Try to give examples from current political and scientific interests.  How might new discoveries in behavioral genetics affect the jobs of psychologists in the future?
